Standard Work is a specific form of standardization.

Standard Work is documented on:

The Standard Work Sheet. This Standard Work form is essentially a map of the area with the operator’s route marked on it.
The Standard Work Combination Sheet. This Standard Work Form is a timeline that shows how operators, machines, and the takt time all interact.
The Time Observation Sheet. This form is used to record cycle times while developing Standard Work.
Work Instruction. This form is contains the details of how to perform the steps described in Standard Work.

Standard Work has three basic elements:

Standard Work should be balanced to the takt time.
Standard Work should prescribe a specific sequence of operations to a single operator.
Standard Work should designate the quantity of Standard Work-in-Process.
